As we come to the end of 2011, it's impossible to ignore the many security breaches, hacking attacks and exploits that occurred throughout 2011 worldwide. Social media became a new target and engine for virus attacks. Did you know that your social media identity can be more valuable to cybercriminals than your credit cards? If your social media account became compromised, your social media friends could be manipulated by cybercriminals. Imagine the possibilities.
Websense Security Labs have predicted that social media will be the primary target for security-related attacks in 2012.
Cybercriminals will in the year 2012 take advantage of the London Olympics, US presidential elections, Mayan calendar and apocalyptic predictions posing as legitimate news services, Twitter feeds, Facebook posts, and so on. By simply clicking on their posts, they will have won, and chances are your data will be compromised as a result.
We all use social media in some capacity, as do our colleagues, employers, staff and friends. Is your business protected from these numerous points of entry?
